FAQ

How to trade on news releases?

Major economic news releases affect the prices of most trading assets, and the effect can last for days. It means both short-term traders and long-term investors can benefit from trading the news. A common way to do that is to open an order during a period of consolidation before the news release, wait for the market response, and then close it after a sharp price movement. However, opening the right order is difficult: to master trading the news, you should learn how fundamental analysis works first.

How to use the economic calendar for trading?

Use the pemaxx economic calendar to find an upcoming news release and analyse how it might affect the price of a certain asset. Open an order prior to the release and wait for the market reaction. You can also wait until the actual data hits and open your order based on how the market usually reacts to such info. To learn more, read our quick guide about how to trade on news.

What is a trading session?

A trading session is the time of the day when a certain major market is open and you can manage trades. In Forex trading, there are four main sessions named after local financial centres: New York, London, Tokyo, and Sydney. They slightly overlap, allowing you to trade Forex 24/5: when one closes, another opens.

What is after-hours trading?

After-hours trading occurs when the day’s normal trading session is closed. For example, the major stock exchanges in the U.S. close at 8 p.m. UTC, but the after-hours trading session can run as late as 12 a.m. UTC with the use of electronic communication networks (ECNs). However, pemaxx does not support any extended-hours trading.
